Heres a pic of my Rossi (for nostalgia purposes) that I sold a few years ago when I got into the Mossberg.22s. It was a fun shooter, probably shouldnt have sold it, but hey, now I have the real deal. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. The In-Laws came to town for the holiday weekend, and brought along something that admittedly, I had had my eye on for several years.Well, they brought 2 things, one of which was a massive back bar from the 20s that weve been trying to get as well, but I digress, lets focus on the firearm.
This Winchester 62, dated to 1947, belonged to my wifes grandfather, on her mothers side. One or two spots in the finish on the barrel, but hardly any wear. ![]() They have an old photo of the grandfather with the rifle and his Model A back in the late 40s, which will be send along to me eventually as well. The in laws have no idea the last time it was shot, they had had it for ages and never shot it. Anyway, it was handed down to me, with the only condition being that this always stays in the family. Bluing is in awesome shape: Pretty cool to have something with actual meaning to pass along to future generations. Hope it Truly Does and that it is Appreciated by Family Members. I had anon shooting grandfather and a vehemently ant-igun father. By ant-igun I mean he is willing ot suspend the 2nd and 4th and 5th amendments and the posse commitatus act to have the army and national guard to go to every dwelling in the us and at gunpoint search every room and every nook and cranny for every gun. He would also make the penalty for an illegal gun 10 yeqrs in jail and for use of an illegal gun life in prison with no hope of parole. ![]() He sold it because I showed it to a friend without his permission. BTW, John Moses Browning himself designed the rifle and sold the patent to Winchester in 1890 for a token amount. The Mod 1890 looks much like ours but has a crescent butt plate and a hex barrel. There were 4 versions of basically the same rifle in continuous production from 1890 to 1959. You will see why this gun became the standard for Shooting Galleries back in the day. A wonderful and fun rifle, enjoy Is that the long rifle version, they were made specifically for each short, long and long rifle. The 62 and 62A were both made for S, L, and LR, where as the 62 Gallery could only chamber short. I owned a Rossi 62 A some time ago, which was a direct copy, and it was also S, L or LR.
